Pocket Hanzi ("the app", "we", "us") is a Mandarin Chinese learning app developed by Eric Jiang. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. By using Pocket Hanzi, you agree to this policy.
We keep this simple: we do not sell your data, we do not show ads, and we do not use third-party analytics or advertising trackers.
Information we collect
- Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address (and, if you sign in with Apple or Google, the name and email those services share with us). This is used to create and secure your account.
- Learning data. We store the progress you create in the app — such as which words you've learned, your saved lists, review history, streaks, and study preferences — so your progress syncs to your account and is available across launches and devices.
- Subscription information. If you subscribe, your purchase is processed by Apple, not us. We never see or store your payment card details. We receive your subscription status (active, trial, expired) through Apple and RevenueCat so we can unlock premium features.
- Device identifiers. Our subscription provider (RevenueCat) uses an anonymous device identifier to associate purchases with your account. We do not use this for advertising.
We do not collect your contacts, photos, precise location, or browsing history.
How we use your information
- To provide the app and sync your learning progress to your account.
- To manage your subscription and unlock premium features.
- To send optional study reminders (local notifications on your device — you can turn these off in Settings).
- To respond to support requests.

We share the minimum data necessary with these providers, who process it on our behalf:
